At this stage, young golfers are continuing to reinforce both their basic and fundamental golf movement skills. As they build these skills, junior golfers should be introduced to competitive experiences on the course.

The SOPGA Junior Series is the developmental junior golf experience for young golfers ages 9-19 throughout the Southern Ohio PGA Section. The Junior Series includes three age divisions: 9-12, 13-15 and 16-19. Players in the 9-12 age division are eligible to play in 9-hole or 18-hole events and permitted to have a parental caddie helping them around the course. SOPGA Junior Series events are played in one day and take place at facilities around Cincinnati, Columbus and the Miami Valley.

The 1905 Junior Tour, hosted by the Greater Cincinnati Golf Association (GCGA), is the premier junior golf program promoting the future of the game in the Tri-State area. Young golfers ages 7-18 have the opportunity to play golf at top facilities around the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky areas in single day and two-day competitions.

The U.S. Kids Golf Local Tour, hosted by the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation, was created to provide junior golfers, ages 5-18, the opportunity to advance their skills in the game. The Local Tours consist of six-eight one-day events for junior golfer to play locally without having to incur the costs and time it takes to travel long distances to play the game. Players are encouraged to have caddies at U.S. Kids Golf events. They also have the opportunity to earn awards and points at each event which qualifies them for State, Regional and International Invitational events and even the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship in Pinehurst, NC.
