COLUMBUS, OH – The Seven Hills Boys Golf Team claimed the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division llI Boys Golf State Championship at NorthStar Golf Club.
Sitting 12 shots behind the overnight leader Newark Catholic, the Seven Hills Stingers came to play on Saturday in the final round of the Division III Boys State Championship. With consistent play on a challenging final round, the Stingers closed the gap and overtook Newark Catholic to claim the State Championship title.
Two SOPGA Junior Tour members played an important role in the title run by Seven Hills. Brothers Jack and Billy Good finished the event inside the top-25 individually. An impressive showing in the final round for Seven Hills saw them have the lowest team score of the day and claim the top spot for the 2022 Division III Boys State Championship.
The State Championship marks the end of some great seasons by SOPGA Junior Tour members. Brogan Sullivan of Newark Catholic and Cameron Phillips of Valley High School ended their seasons on a high note finishing the event in a tie for fourth place to earning First Team All-Ohio Honors.
Max Vanoy and Nathan Riggleman also played an important role for Newark Catholic throughout the 2022 season in helping the team finish second at the 2022 OHSAA Division III Boys State Championship.
Congratulations to our SOPGA Junior Tour members on both the State Champion Seven Hills High School and State Runner-up Newark Catholic High School teams on their great seasons!
