Lucas Massa of Howard, Ohio claimed his second consecutive Player of the Year award in the Boys 13-15 division. After capping off his 2023 with an impressive 2-0 record at the Junior Ohio Cup, Lucas wasted no time picking up where he left off. He won the 13-15 division in the first six events he played in! In total, Lucas competed in 14 events on the season and earned an incredible 3,025 points! Of those 14 events, he earned a record-breaking 12 wins in his age division to skyrocket him to the top of the points list and secure his place on the Junior Ohio Cup team! Let’s get to know Lucas Massa, the Boys 13-15 Player of the Year.

Q: What’s your hometown and what school do you attend?

LM: I am currently homeschooled and live in Howard, Ohio.

Q: Do you participate in any other Southern Ohio PGA Junior Golf programming?

LM: Outside of the SOPGA Jr. Tour I also compete for the PGA Jr. League Team from Scioto Country Club.

Q: What is your favorite golf course you have ever played?

LM: I would say Scioto Country Club. Everything about the course just seems to be perfect and there’s not a piece of grass out of place.

Q: If you had to pick a walkup song when you are going to the first tee, what would it be?

LM: I would pick The Show Goes On by Lupe Fiasco, it gets me really excited to play golf!

Q: What do you like to do outside of golf?

LM: Outside of golf I like to hang out with friends and solve Rubik’s cubes.

Q: Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

LM: I can solve a Rubik’s Cube in 15 seconds

Q: When did you start playing golf and what got you interested in the game?

LM: I started playing when I was only two years old. I picked up a club and I just really liked seeing the ball go in the air. I’ve stuck with it ever since!

Q: What was the highlight of your summer golf experience on the SOPGA Jr. Tour?

LM: Winning my second Player of the Year in a row. It was even cooler this year because I won it by over 1,000 points and it got me back on the Junior Ohio Cup team!
