Braylen Haney of Huber Heights, Ohio has earned the Boys 16-19 Player of the Year title on the SOPGA Jr. Tour for the second consecutive year. Haney’s campaign was marked by multiple victories, steady top finishes, and the ability to deliver in big moments against strong fields.
Haney kicked off his season in style at the Hamilton Jr. Classic – NB3 Qualifier (May 10–11), carding rounds of 78-76 to place third and earn valuable early points. Just two weeks later, he found his first win of the year at the Locust Hills Jr. Open (May 24), firing an impressive 69 to capture the title.
His momentum continued into June, where Haney’s precision and mental toughness shined. At the Granville Jr. Classic – NB3 Qualifier (June 9–10), he posted back-to-back 74s to secure his second win of the season. That victory followed a strong showing at the Grizzly Jr. Championship (June 2–3), where he finished tied for third with a two-day total of 152.
Haney remained in contention throughout the summer, placing fourth at both the Apple Valley Jr. Championship (June 16–17) and the Beavercreek Jr. Classic (July 21–22). He also had a top-10 finish at the Junior PGA Championship(June 23–24), proving he could compete on one of the biggest stages in junior golf.
His best moment came at the SOPGA Jr. Tour Championship (July 28–29), where he closed the season with a dominant victory, shooting 77 to secure the win and seal his Player of the Year honors.
Across the season, Haney combined low scoring with steady play under pressure, earning three wins, multiple podium finishes, and the respect of his peers. His ability to bounce back from tough rounds, control his game in high-stakes situations, and produce clutch performances made him a deserving recipient of the SOPGA Jr. Tour Boys 16-19 Player of the Year award.
