FAIRBORN, OH – The Northern Ohio PGA and Southern Ohio PGA are thrilled to announce the Junior Ohio Cup set to take place this Fall. This team format competition will feature the best players from around the state as junior golfers from the NOPGA and SOPGA face off. The inaugural event is set to take place on October 28-29, 2023 at Westfield Country Club in Westfield Center, OH.
Junior Tour Members from each organization will have the opportunity to qualify for the 16 person team. The team will be made up of 8 boys and 8 girls to compete in Four-Ball & Singles matches.
“Today marks a historic milestone for junior golf in Ohio as we proudly announce the first-ever Junior Ohio Cup matches,” noted David Griffith. “We are thrilled to collaborate with our counterparts from Southern Ohio to showcase the exceptional talents and sportsmanship of our young golfers in this great state. As the Executive Director of Northern Ohio PGA, I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of this momentous occasion.”
Patrick Salva, Executive Director of the Southern Ohio PGA, added, “We are incredibly excited to kick off the Junior Ohio Cup. The Ohio Cup, a tradition rich Ryder Cup event between our two sections, has brought us closer over the years and we look forward to doing the same in junior golf. We look forward to bringing the best junior players from both sections together at the end of the year to celebrate everyone’s accomplishments through this fun competition.”
How to Qualify:
-Winners of the Junior PGA Championship will earn an automatic bid as long as they are members of their respective Jr. Tour. (Northern/Southern Ohio)
-5 boys and 5 girls will be selected from the Player of the Year points list in the 16-19 age division
-2 boys and 2 girls will be selected from the Player of the Year points list in the 13-15 age division
