Grace Boone of Blanchester, Ohio had a fantastic rookie year on the SOPGA Jr. Tour! Boone, a first time SOPGA Jr. Tour player, had a great showing in her first year as a part of the SOPGA Jr. Tour. She picked up back to back wins early on in the year. In addition to those two wins, Boone picked up nine top-10 finishes to propel her into fifth place on the player of the year standings. Her season-long play earned her a spot on Team SOPGA for the first ever Junior Ohio Cup matches played in October. Take a few minutes and get to know more about Grace Boone!
Q: What is your favorite golf course?
GB: I would say Muirfield Village Golf Club, it was such a surreal experience getting to play where the pros play!
Q: What’s on your playlist right now?
GB: I really like listening to country music so I would say my playlist is pretty much any new country music that is out.
Q: If you had to play a round of golf with only one club, what club is it and why?
GB: I would pick my 7-iron. It’s always been my favorite club and I feel like it’s probably the most versatile club in my bag so I could hit a lot of different shots with it.
Q: When did you start playing golf and what got you interested in the game?
GB: I started playing golf when I was in seventh grade. I was at a summer camp and I saw some of the older kids playing and it got me interested.
Q: If you could play golf with anyone, who would be your dream foursome?
GB: My dream foursome would be myself, Brooke Hnderson, Justin Thomas, and Danielle Kang.
Q: What was the highlight of your summer golf experience?
GB: The highlight of my summer golf experience would have to be getting to play in the Junior Ohio Cup this fall. It was so cool to get to know these players competing against them all summer and then we get to be on the same team!
Q: What do you like to do outside of golf?
GB: There’s a few things that I really like to do outside of golf. I like to hang out with my friends, go rock climbing, and volunteer at the shelter!
Q: Tell us a fun fact about yourself?
GB: A fun fact about me is that I’m an advanced scuba certified diver.
Q: You just finished a tournament in first place, how do you celebrate?
GB: After a tournament win I love to go get ice cream to celebrate!
