Team Yo-Yo Sweeps Southern Ohio PGA Jr. League Section Championships
The road to the PGA Jr. League Championship Season continued at Locust Hills Golf Club as teams from across the Southern Ohio PGA Section came together for two days of competition at the 2026 Southern Ohio PGA Jr. League Section Championship.
With 13U and 17U teams representing programs from across the Section, Sunday and Monday featured everything from stroke-play qualifying to head-to-head match play, with a trip to the next stage of the Championship Season on the line.
By the time the final putt dropped Monday, one program had completed an impressive sweep.
Team Yo-Yo captured both the 13U and 17U Section Championships.
Sunday Sets the Stage
The 13U Championship began Sunday with teams split between the Front and Back nines at Locust Hills, battling for four spots in Monday’s match-play competition.
And Team Yo-Yo wasted little time separating itself from the field.
The Team Yo-Yo 13U All-Stars fired a 12-under-par qualifying round, easily the lowest score among the teams competing. Northwest Columbus 1 followed at +3, while TGR All-Stars also posted +3 on the opposite nine.
That meant Yo-Yo’s qualifying performance was a remarkable 15 strokes better than the next-best score posted by any other 13U team.
When qualifying was complete, four teams remained:
Team Yo-Yo 13U, TGR All-Stars, Northwest Columbus 1 and Columbus 1 Team 1 advanced to Monday, where the format shifted from qualifying scores to PGA Jr. League’s signature match-play competition.
Yo-Yo Takes Control on Monday
If Sunday’s 12-under performance made Team Yo-Yo the team to beat, Monday only reinforced it.
Across three semifinal matches and 12 available points, Team Yo-Yo collected an incredible 11 points, earning 3.5 points in T1, all four in T2 and another 3.5 in T3.
TGR All-Stars earned 6.5 points to join YoYo in the championship match, while Northwest Columbus 1 collected 5.5 and Columbus 1 Team 1 finished with one.
That set the stage for a championship showdown between Team Yo-Yo and TGR All-Stars.
Yo-Yo somehow found another gear.
The eventual champions swept all four points from each of the first two matches before taking three of four in the final match.
Final: Team Yo-Yo 11, TGR All-Stars 1.
Across the semifinal and championship rounds combined, Team YoYo collected 22 of a possible 24 points — an incredible 91.7% of all available points.
Coupled with its dominant Sunday qualifying performance, it completed an impressive two-day run to the 2026 Southern Ohio PGA 13U Section Championship.
17U: Different Format, Same Result
While the 13U championship worked its way through qualifying and match play, the 17U competitors faced a different test: Two 9-hole matches of aggregate stroke play.
Once again, Team Yo-Yo immediately jumped to the top.
Yo-Yo opened the championship with a blistering 12-under-par first round, seven strokes clear of 17U Belmont Hills Team 1 at -5.
Team Yo-Yo followed its opening -12 with another 10-under-par round, finishing the championship at an incredible 22-under par.
Belmont Hills Team 1 finished runner-up at -7 after rounds of -5 and -2, while Belmont Hills Team 2 finished third.
Two divisions.
Two championships.
One program heading onward.
The Section Championship is about more than the trophies handed out at Locust Hills. It’s another step along the PGA Jr. League Championship Season and an opportunity for junior golfers from throughout Southern Ohio to represent their teams, programs and communities on a bigger stage.
After two days of golf, plenty of competition and some exceptional performances, Team Yo-Yo earned the right to continue that journey in both age divisions.
Congratulations to our 2026 Southern Ohio PGA Jr. League Section Champions — Team YoYo 13U and Team YoYo 17U!
